This is kinda related to the fanfic thread, but anyway.

So, as some of you may or may not be aware, Microsoft have started a thing called the XNA Creators Club. This allows Game Dev wannabes like me to create and release their own Home Brew games for both Windows and XBox Live Arcade, using Microsoft's own software (the XNA Game Studio). Obviously, the software ain't free, but the membership fee isn't too bad (30 for 4 months, 65 for 12), so I'm thinking that, as this semester winds down and I have all my crappy assignments wrapped up, I'll purchase a membership and see if I can whip up at least one game over the summer.

So here's the point I'm trying laboriously to reach: would there be any interest from the fanbase here in a game - or series of games - based off SHD? (Assuming ak-ryuu has no problems with it ofc)
Obviously, I'm not gonna spend time developing a game that nobody's interested in, but the reason I'm thinking of something set in the SHD world is because it has a lot of potential for various game-types: Action, RPG, Puzzle... even Racing if you wanna go to extremes :p
Plus, I have enough experience now drawing the various characters of SHD that I feel I could reasonably churn out the sprites for a game without making a mess of things.

So let me know what y'all think and if there's enough interest I'll start throwing some ideas around.

EDIT: Actually, the software is free, just the LIVE stuff requires a membership fee :)

This sounds quite interesting. I'm not sure if my computer is up to specs of XNA Game Studio (mainly graphics card) and I don't have X-Box, but I sure would be willing to try anything you create.

I haven't really looked much into the Windows side of development yet, however the finished games should be fairly stand-alonish, hopefully requiring no additional software to run.

The game will be 2D, like most LIVE Arcade games; at the moment I'm thinking of an adventure-puzzle game in a similar vein to Puzzle Quest, since there's a nice starter kit available which walks through creating a color-matching puzzle game in Game Studio, so hopefully the graphical demands shouldn't be too high.

Biggest challenge for me will be learning to code in C#, but it's a step I need to take if I want to have a chance in the game industry. Obviously, I'm not naive enough to think I can just learn everything I need to and throw a game together in a few months, but with plenty of online help and tutorials available, I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get something off the ground.
