Hi! I finally gave in and added SHD-WK (and Spiky's World too) to the three webcomic toplists I'm aware of. I still won't put their buttons on my front page though, so I put a nice little box with text links, also containing the link to Spiky's World and to my ComicSpace.

If on anyone's browser it seems that this doesn't look like it should, please let me know and I see if I can fix it :)

Oh yeah, and if you don't mind, vote please. I don't even know how often you can vote, I think it's once per 24 hours or something. I never really cared about toplists at all ... :)

---------------------------------------------------------
Here's a list of the vote incentives so far:
---------------------------------------------------------

Week 16/2007 TWC: The special button ad made from the "dream" comics of that same week.

Week 17 TWC: The leaderboard ad I made to advertise.
Week 17 bCx: The skyscraper ad I use fairly often to advertise.

Week 18 TWC: The very first cast sketches, from spring 2003 or so (half a year before the comic started).
Week 18 bCx: The first sketch of Alastair (coloured), from about the same time.

Week 19 TWC: The very first sketch of Vincent, before he even got his name.
Week 19 bCx: A sneak preview of #536, panel 4 (without the dialogue).

Week 20 TWC: The teaser picture that was up on the SHD-WK site before the comic started.
Week 20 bCx: Old concept sketch of Roland.

Week 21 TWC: An old and pretty crappy sketch of Roland and Vincent cosplaying as Wolfwood/Vash from Trigun.
Week 21 bCx: An equally ancient sketch of Edgar, in colour and in a slightly different style :)

Week 22-23 TWC: Leek fight!
Week 22-23 bCx: A sneak preview of Spiky's World #19!

Week 24 TWC: Antartic, me, and Negation in Second Life wearing Spiky shirts.
Week 24 bCx: And me in Second Life, again with a Spiky shirt.

Week 26 TWC & bCx: Nocturne and me in Second Life. (I'll try to have a better incentive up again next week ;P)

(OK, at this point I got too lazy to update these ... :))

---------------------------------------------------------

(If it is Monday, the latest ones might not be online yet. If it is Saturday or Sunday, the bCx one might already be gone.)

I may put those vote incentives on a place on the website to look at later, but if so, then a couple weeks/months after they have been a vote incentive. Otherwise it would defy the purpose, right? ;)

I added a fourth one, KillBoredom, and SHD-WK is at the top of the weekly list currently! Thanks to all of you who voted and are voting :)

SHD-WK is doing a lot better on those top lists than I thought it would. Thanks to all who are voting!

As you can see, I started putting up "vote incentives" ... little extras that aren't shown anywhere else, sort of as a "reward" for the extra click. I'll hope to come up with something new once a week, at least for TWC (I think that one is the most important top list right now). Next week or the next two weeks I'll probably dig out some old SHD-WK sketches from before the comic had even started, but after that, I dunno ... at some point I'll have to start producing content specially for the top lists.

Sooooo .... if anyone of you have any ideas/wishes/requests of what you want to see there, post in this thread? Thanks :)

Sketches and pictures of the background story and world would be interesting. Things like what an average dragon home looks like and what kind of traditional costumes people at the north wear ;)

I think I should keep track of the vote incentives somewhere .... I think I'll edit the first post of this thread and do that there :)
If there's going to be discussion about any of the vote incentives, this thread will probably be the right place, too ;) Dunno yet if I should sticky it, though (Can I make "sticky" into a verb? I can verb anything in English, right? ;))

Yes, you can. I'm a mod on another board, and I've stickied a thread or two. That's what we call it. Stickying. :)

I forget if I can vote again or not. Not sure...
I'll wait until later this week when I KNOW I can.

If I am not mistaken, you can vote once a day on TWC, buzzComix, and Webbed, and once every 24 hours on KillBoredom.
On TWC the "new day" starts at 9 AM my time, I think that makes it midnight at Eastern Daylight time or something. The other two, I have no idea when their midnight is.

Why did I think you could only vote once a week? Hmm.

9 AM for you is 2 AM for me. *random trivia of the hour*

.... are you sure? I thought we're more than 7 hours apart. It's about 6 PM here right now.

It's about 11 AM. Seven hours. *nods*

Now for someone in Colorado, it'd be nine hours.

I think I need to dig out that geography flash game on the web again that gives you only the outlines of the states and then you have to know which one is which. I learned them with that game at some point, but I forgot again, so if it's not Alaska, New York, New England, Washington, Florida, Texas, or California, I probably only have a very rough idea where some state is ... *goes to get a map of the States to check where Carolina is and why there are two of them*

Edit: Right, it's on the East coast. I dunno why I placed the Carolinas a bit more to the west ... and why I kept thinking that the East coast is 6 hours behind GMT, when in fact it's 6 hours behind CET ... As I said in another thread, I probably need to sleep more. Or less. Or at a different time ;P

Thread hijacking complete! Maybe I should split this and start a geography thread over in the General forum ;)

Really? Wow, if somebody had told me, I'd have twice the votes ;P
But nah. When I vote there at noon, it tells me "you can vote again in 21 hours" ... Or did they change something only recently?

You can vote for this comic again in 7 hours, see you then!

Nevermind, I usually vote in the evenings, and that comes out at ~12 hours here. It confused me, couldn't they just put "you can vote again tomorrow" there?

Then people (at least me) would go "Tomorrow, yeah, but in what timezone? It already is tomorrow here!" ;)
