Hmmm... so to actually experience distinct seasons that actually fit their descriptions, one should travel to different parts of the world throughout the year. Be in the right place at the right time and you've got a picture-perfect season!

I guess that's the closest thing to flying she can currently do. She could of try building wings for herself and ask Bruce to fly those like a kite. But maybe that wouldn't end up so well ;)

I haven't flown a kite in a long time now, although I used to like it when I was younger. My best kite was self-built and met it's doom when fishing line I was using run out and left the kite free. That was both sad and cool, since I never thought that I would be using all 100 meters of it.

With Spikys harness in mind, I thought of kite-surfing or something similar.

I was wondering about the kites shape in the first and especially second picture: I always thought, spikys wings would grow from her shoulder blades, not through her forearms / fingers (like modern birds or ancient dinosaurs).

Spiky would have to exchange her fingers for wings, maybe like the classic mermaid theme.

I'm curious if - and then, how - she aquires wings...

I thought too that when she'll grow wings, they'll attach to shoulder blades (or nearby). But I also sort of assumed that since it is only a kite, it doesn't need to be completely anatomically correct. Maybe putting wings like that was just easier way to do it? And with kites you'll usually want to avoid extra weight or weight at wrong position, so maybe Spiky just decided to omit the hands, since they aren't that important for the flying anyway.

That makes me to want to carve some turnips or pumpkins too. They would look so neat on the fence.

Too bad that we didn't see how Spiky lighted them. My bet is that she just breathed fire and lighted them all up in one go. That's scarier than the turnips ;)

At least that day is over for another year...

I haven't heard of turnip lanterns before.

Pumpkin lanterns are an American invention (as is Halloween as celebrated nowadays, which I hate). Originally, in Britain and Ireland, lanterns were carved from turnips or swedes; the connection to Halloween though is a rather recent invention.
(Note that Halloween has not been mentioned in the strip ;P)

We did them sometimes when I was a child (and when turnips were available, of course). It must have been sometime in autumm, but i cannot remember the exact date nor occasion. It was rather scary, since this turnip was about the size of ones head...

Well, it makes sense that I wouldn't know about one of the traditions of my own country. ;P

Sorry to hear that the Spiky's World will be put into sporadic schedule. It was fun to read it. But if I had to choose between the Spiky's World and main comic, I would choose to read the main comic.

I really like Spiky's frustrated "Duh" - expression on the last panel. She must feel somewhat frustrated after catching all those snowflakes and watching them to turn into water.
