Barely just managed to finish my xmas pic in time!
Xmas 2007
(Yay me for accidentally overwriting the finished original before making backups ... This size is all I have now, the previous backup is a few hours old.)
As you can see, I chose everybody's current favourite character for this year's Holiday special! Just what you needed to see after the previous weeks in the ongoing story, right?
Unlike previous holiday pictures, this one is actually canon, depicting something that actually happened like that in the backstory. (Well, maybe with a different angel on top of the tree.) So I started this thread just in case there's questions/discussions about it :)
Have a safe and stress-free holiday week, everybody! _________________ Do you mind? I'm trying to learn about the Okapi. |

I like it. A moment where the baron is plotting what to do when he grows up. Hehehehe... |

Nice Pic. :)
So the baron has had some quiet moments in his childhood... |

Everything looks so calm and peaceful in the picture. I wonder if the baron ever misses those times when he was sitting on the floor and his father was reading book on christmas eve.
And I totally like the Siron-decoration on the tree ;P _________________ Who keeps the Five Worlds off the maps? Who keeps the lostech under wraps? We do, we do. |

I dont like to quote myself, but i should add some second thoughts..:
The pic on the mantelpiece (the baron's grandfather, I presume) has a small black band on it, so maybe the scene is not as peaceful as it seems at first. With the reminiscience of the slain baron present, the baron (reading) may just instill hatred into the little baron (playing...)
I like the little blue spiky figure there :) |

The baron's (much) older son.

It seems peaceful? Heh. "Seems" being the keyword ;) I'm pretty sure it was their only Christmas like that; the one thing I'm not currently certain of is which year exactly this takes place, because I didn't manage to draw the kid as young as I wanted (I think), and I'm unsure what age he looks in the pic. hard to tell. Since the face is not all-round and childish, but with onsetting puberty, i'd vote for 12-14 years... |

I would guess something between 7 and 14. _________________ Who keeps the Five Worlds off the maps? Who keeps the lostech under wraps? We do, we do. |

Granted there is a Christmas tree, and flowers on the mantle, but really, it seems a stark home. And the little Baron is being completely ignored by the big Baron, yet the little Baron simply waits....
The boy in the picture looks to be about 13 or 14, I agree. And nice. He looks nice, friendly. Unlike his father. |

.... I almost need to redo that picture to make him younger (he definitely needs to be younger than 10). I tried, but gave up after 2 hours and just drew him some way. Do you have any idea how hard it is to draw with a trackball when you have a deadline? ;P _________________ Do you mind? I'm trying to learn about the Okapi. |

Is the baron (snr) ignoring his son, or is he reading him a 'story' (like what the Worthless family did in betraying the baron's elder son and getting him killed)? _________________ And the autumn smells like leaving, I sense winter on its chill |

Reading him the Christmas story. That was the only Christmas he ever did that, though, he had refused to do it before and he refused even more strongly after this time. _________________ Do you mind? I'm trying to learn about the Okapi. |
